Nicotinamide riboside chloride (NR)

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a precursor to the important cofactor nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), essential to all cell types as a supplier of the mitochondrial electron transport chain and plays a role in multiple enzymatic processes involved in metabolic regulation, immunometabolism, aging, as well as DNA repair, transcription and transduction [1,2,3,4]. 2016 marks the first year that a human clinical trial was conducted and showed safety and efficacy with oral nicotinamide riboside supplementation, stimulating NAD+ metabolism in a dose-dependent manner [1,8].
